Agriculture and Allied livelihood activities

Agriculture: Summer paddy and vegetables

Foundation supported 175 farmers in summer paddy promotion in terms of seed distribution, ensured seed treatment, nursery raising and timely transplantation with the young aged seedlings (15-21 days aged). The farmers were mobilized into a group of 10-15 hamlet wise for better monitoring and support. A group of farmers were also provided handhold support on SRI and found encouraging results. The farmers were also trained on homemade liquid fertilizer and pesticide preparation and their uses in paddy and vegetable crops. Besides, field base demonstration on trapping fruit flies and other tiny sucking pest with pheromone and yellow, blue sticky traps in the cucurbit crops. The overall result among farmer was encouraging. The paddy was harvested and average yield 750 to 1000 kg per 0.33 acre of area.

Promotion of Nutrition Garden(NG)

Over 600 families were supported with various vegetable seeds to promote nutrition garden in the backyard. They were supported through field demonstration of NG specifically design and layout, use of compost and homemade fertilizers and pesticides. The purpose was to harvest fresh and pesticide free vegetables for the daily intake. The seed support received was from SeSTA, Bongaigaon.

  1. Mushroom Cultivation: 20 SHG members promoted by ASRLM were trained and supported on Oyster mushroom cultivation. The result was quite good among the women and they wanted it to take on commercial scale.
  2. Support in BYP

The Foundation had conducted 2 camps on vaccine of duck (Duck plague) and BYP againstranikhet/new castle viral diseases. A total of 500 bird were vaccinated covering 100 of households. The vaccination was a paid services and done with the support of trained community cadres.


Health and hygiene

1. Covid vaccine Support project

The project was supported by APF.  The Xeuji foundationexecuted the project in collaboration with Health block Raniganj. Prior to the project, the per centage of the vaccination progress was very  poor  (1st dose completed was 25006, 2nd dose completed was 639 (MIS data, 6th November 2021, Raniganj Health block) in  the char area of 31 villages of the 7 Gram panchayat under the CD block Nayeralga. The project was initiated from January 2021. The project period was for 6 months.

The Foundation supported the vaccine program with its 5 community health workers, 2 AMN, 2 data entry operators especially on planning, household baseline entry, stakeholder meeting, village and hamlet base awareness generation meeting, postering, miking, micro planning with SC/PHC/HWC including doctors, ANMs, ASHA etc., arranged 112 additional   health camp.  A total of 45,630 individuals were mobilized to take vaccines doses. In the project, 62 community cadres were trained to support in various activity at community for better % of vaccination in the SC/PHC/HWC. Besides session in SC/PHC/HWC, the foundation had arranged additional vaccine camps in the village itself with the 2 ANM and 2 data entry operators recruited with due permission from Director of health and family welfare, Guwahati, Assam.

2. Adolescent girls and their health and hygiene

Awareness program on adolescent girls, their health and hygiene issues, management process etc. distribution of sanitary pad were done with a coverage of 197 girls. Also conducted firsthand survey to understand the situation of Menstruation and health status.  In the survey, 197 women covered with aged under 18. There are 31 girls found married, 103 girls with illiterate father and 98 with illiterate mother. 156 girls knew about 1st cycle of menstruation from their mother.  69 girls knew menstruation occurs because of curse of God, 3 said as a sin and 16 said as a disease. As cleaning process, 179 girls used soap and water, and 116 girls used cloth as absorbent.  151 girls responded about religious and marriage restriction during period time.  35 girls experienced with infection. There was high-rate school dropout as all the 31 girls found married at under aged 18.


Grade improvement and awareness program on Education

Basic study conducted to understand the quality of English literature of student class IX to X from the 6 Government schools under Nayeralga and BirsingJarua. Study was done with the support of an Intern of AMU.The organization also planned to launch a grade improvement cum coaching support from next financial year.


Solar base livelihood

45 youths were mobilized to access solar based income generating activities from Selco foundation through its technical partners Techno village energy Pvt Ltd. The major activities are DC freeze, egg incubator, huller machine, integrated charging station, sewing machine, lighting for petty shop and LSK.
